Centuries ago, Tibetan monks began searching Buddhist symbols from a strongly banded black Onyx/agate stone in the distance of the Himalayas . They firmly believed that the strong positive energy can ONLY be found in Strongly Banded Onyx or Agate stone because they believed that mysterious energy exists in there because they are harder and last longer than rocks which have millions of years of "life" close to "eternity". Due to the high attitude (over 3000 meters above sea level) and cold weather, Himalayan ONYX has very special formation when cooling down sharply that result of more chances to form natural EYE then anywhere else.
Onyx ( SiO2 with impurities) is a member of the Quartz family Chalcedony or microcrystalline quartz.
Onyx is usually black, gray or brown with white bands. The bands are typically straight, which separates it from banded agate, because the lines in banded agate are usually curved. Sardonyx is a type of Onyx with bands of Sard alternating with the stone white or black layers.
